The Magical Towns Program (PPM) arises as an initiative for the comprehensive tourism development of localities. Although the stated purpose, a low impact of the PPM is observed in the registered localities. The objective of the research is to analyze the impact of the PPM, in particular the development of the artisans of the town of Chiapa de Corzo through tourism, as a tool for sustainable development. The study is undertaken under the mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative) of cross-section. Artisans and members of the local PPM committee are surveyed. The information collected was processed, analyzed and systematized, resulting in a low contribution of the PPM in terms of promotion, development and improvement in the quality of life of the artisans. The experience of the PPM in the town of Chiapa de Corzo is a watershed for the implementation of public policies and actions with greater social integration in the territory
