Family research: A bibliometric-based review

Scientific research on topics related to family studies has substantially increased in the past few years, showing the relevance of this area of science to society. This article's objective is to analyze the most relevant scientific contributions in thisfield with the methodological support of bibliometric analysis. Three variables are mainly considered: family structures, family behaviors and family structures. The information was analyzed through bibliometric indicators, which include citations and h-index. The VOS viewer software was used to create maps that show relevant trendsin this area. The analysis includes scientific articles, scientific journals, authors, institutions, and countries.Among the main results, it stands out that there is a significant increase in the number of publications related to family issues, as well as an increase in various areas of science interested in family issues. In the same way, countries, universities and researchers are increasingly joining these lines of research.
