Abstract

This study focuses on the information literacy skills of staff at the Magna Library and the Electronic Newspaper Library of the Autonomous University of Nayarit. The aim is to evaluate these skills and their relationship to the level of education attained. The research was classified as quantitative, descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional in design. The study population consisted of 73 employees, 51 of whom participated. The Information Literacy Test (ILT) for higher education was administered; this is an internationally validated instrument aligned with the standards of the Association of University and Research Libraries. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Spearman's correlation and Mann–Whitney U-test. The results showed that most staff have a low level of information competence (IC). It was concluded that strengthening the education and training of library staff to improve service quality and better support users was a priority.
