Resistance to antibioticshas been declared a public health emergencyworldwide; physicians being aware of this issue is key in the strategies to slow down its progression. We present a cross sectional study with a non-probability sampling of two generations of medicine students about to graduate interrogating about their perspective of the problem, contributing factors and their consulted sources for prescribing. With 236 participants, 160 (67.8%) consider antibiotic resistance a national problem, 154 (65.2%) agree that it’s present in hospitals wherethey’ve collaborated, they point to patient self-medication as the main cause for this, and follow national guidelines and books for correct antibiotic prescription; 2040 (87.7%) wish to further their education in the subject. Our results coincide with other international authors and are key to create special courses focused in appropriate prescribing of antibiotics.
