The objective of this article is to make a comparative review of the literature that allows us to obtain a clearer picture of the intervention of higher education institutions for the detection of study habits and techniques in university students. The method is qualitative and documentary with a simple cross-sectional approach, for which homogeneous samples were used for the selection of the comparative case studies, choosing 17 authors. Regarding the similarities found, they can be divided into 4 categories:Implementation of educational programs, by higher level institutions, focused on developing study habits and techniques in the new student; the student and the absence of study habits and techniques; the role of the teacher, and his influence on the use of study habits and techniques, by the student and advantages of the existence of knowledge in this area.
