Characterization of the university teacher: needs and demands

Higher education systems have been subject of a high level of scrutiny; consequently, this inquiry directs to the performance of teachers. With the purpose of knowing the characteristics, needs and training demands of the university professor of the public higher education institutions of the state of Nayarit (HEIs), a descriptive study of quantitative approach was carried out. It included a cross-sectional design to a sample of 605 teachers belonging to eight public HEIs of the state. The study revealedthat, the HEIs considered for this project have an updated teaching staff interested in continuing education and motivated to achieve high quality standards.
