Nutrient requirement by papaya (Carica papaya L.) var. Mulata

Papaya is a crop of economic importance in the tropical zones of Mexico and its production cost can be high due to the mismanagement offertilizers. The objective of this study was to determine the nutritional requirement of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium, in the cultivation of papaya Var. Mulata. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, located in the Academic Unit of Agriculture of the Autonomous University of Nayarit, through monthly destructive sampling; The production of dry matter was recorded. It was concluded that the nutritional requirement per ton of fruit is the following amounts in kg: N 1.53, P2O50.27, K2O 3.18, CaO 0.61 and MgO 1.02; in addition to the fact that potassium is the nutrient most demanded.
