Safe care practices to prevent health care-associated infections

Abstract

Safe hospital care practices make up a key component of quality in health care, in professionals who want to offer safe, effective and efficient health care. The IAAS, areacquired within health establishments, constitute a public health problem worldwide. Objective: to identify, analyze and promote the use of these safe care practices to avoid HAIs. Methodology: qualitative documentary, descriptive with a type of theoretical sampling, based on the search for information based on scientific evidence documents through research platforms PubMed, SciELO, Scopus, Google Scholar, Clinicalkey. Results: ignorance of safe practices increases the morbidity and mortality of patients. Conclusion: safe care practices prevent HAIs, which are prevalent in underdeveloped countries, lead to the spread of infections, increase morbidity and mortality, work fatigue, waste of economic resources, and limited access to public health services.
