Abstract

This documentary review work was considered as a central objective to develop a conceptual review on the term gamification and from there, reflect on the implications of its possible educational use in learning English grammar. Twenty-four specialized texts on the subject were examined, including scientific journals, books or chapters of books, web pages, and postgraduate theses. For the development of the review, physical libraries were used to examine texts and, in particular, digital media was consulted via the Internet. The results of the review make it possible to conclude that in contemporary education systems, the use of gamified educational strategies can be viable alternatives for improving one of today's cardinal competencies, namely, English proof dominion; in particular, one of its basics "grammar".
