Abstract

Mexico, the nith largest coffee producer in the world, counts Nayarit as one of its main contributors, ranking seventh nationally. This Study describes coffee production in Nayarit, basen on SIAP data from 2003 to 2021. Despite a decrease in the area sown, the harvested area remains constant. Compostela, Xalisco and San Blas lead production, while other municipalities have reduced their area due to lack of support, pest control and introduction of more profitable crops. In conclusion, it is necessary to boost coffee production in Nayarit through public policies that address these issues and help producers add value to their product.
