Repensando la Enseñanza del Inglés en México: percepciones de docentes sobre el Inglés Lengua Franca

Resumen

El inglés como lengua franca (ELF) ha cobrado relevancia en la enseñanza del inglés, pero en México aún predomina un enfoque de inglés como lengua extranjera, con escasa exploración de metodologías ELF. Este estudio cualitativo explora las percepciones de profesores y futuros profesores de inglés en una universidad pública mexicana sobre el paradigma ELF y sus implicaciones pedagógicas. Los datos se recopilaron mediante cuestionarios, entrevistas semiestructuradas y un grupo focal. Los resultados revelan una creciente conciencia y un apoyo hacia las variedades del inglés, aunque persisten ideas erróneas sobre el ELF. Asimismo, los participantes subrayan la necesidad de pedagogías culturalmente sensibles y adaptadas al contexto lingüístico mexicano. Se destaca la urgencia de que los programas de formación docente incorporen la teoría y la práctica del ELF, superen las normas del hablante nativo, y preparen a los educadores para adaptar materiales y promover la competencia comunicativa intercultural.

  • Cliserio Antonio Cruz Martínez, Universidad Veracruzana

    Cliserio Cruz is a full time professor in the BA in English and the MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, Universidad Veracruzana (UV). He holds a PhD in Language Studies and Applied Linguistics by UV. He has presented and published research data in national and international conferences. He is currently coordinating the MA in TEFL at Universidad Veracruzana.

  • Oscar Manuel Narváez Trejo, Universidad Veracruzana

    Oscar Narvaez is a full-time professor at the School of Languages, University of Veracruz. He holds an MA in TEFL from Aston University and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Kent University. He is a full-time professor and teacher educator in the English department, the MA Degree in TEFL and the PhD in Applied Linguistics and Language Studies from the School of Languages. His research interests relate to understanding educational actors' perspectives on ELT and ELT teacher education processes.

  • Hakim Djarabi, Universidad Veracruzana

    Originally from Paris, France, I live and work in Mexico since April 2008.
    I am mostly an English and French teacher at Universidad Veracruzana (an important Mexican public university from the State of Veracruz).
    I am involved in research for the fields of TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) and applied linguistics since I started my MA research on English as a Lingua Franca.
