Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the level ofunder standing of thirty-five pictograms on the care and prevention of COVID-19 carried out by second-semester students of the degree in graphic design at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP). Methods: A non-probabilistic sample of 104 people was surveyed. Using the adapted format of the Comprehension and Intelligibility Test by Siebenhandl et al. (2007). Comprehension and intelligibility were assessed under the minimum comprehension criteria of ISO 3864. Results: Ofthe thirty-five pictograms, three did not comply with ISO 9186, one pictogram did not achieve67% of ISO 3864. Twenty managed to be above the 85% indicated by ANSI Z535. Conclusions: Two of six referents obtained alower comprehensions core, reiterating that the reis a relationship between the familiarity of users with graphic symbols to achieve a higher degree of comprehension.
