Exist factors that influence the superovulatory response that affect the transfer of bovine embryos. The objective was to evaluate the superovulatory response on number and quality of embryosin Simmental cows with and without calf. Five donor cows were used: three with calves(VCC)and two without calves(VSC).Follicle Stimulating Hormone was used for superovulation, administered four days every 12 hours, reducing the dose every 24 hours. Six days after the first insemination, lavage was performed. The quantity and quality (excellent, good, fair and poor) of the embryos produced were evaluated through a descriptive analysis of means and relative and absolute frequencies. Twenty embryos were recovered, seven fromVCC (2.3 average), and 13 from VSC (6.5average). The number of viable embryosfrom VCCwas greater respect to VSC. In conclusion, the reproductive status of cows can influence the quantity and quality of embryos recovered by superovulation.
