In this research, the student perception regarding the learning and use of software in the Mechanical Engineering academic program is presented. This study was conducted with a quantitative descriptive approach, as it was developed based on data collection through a Google Forms survey administered to 70 students, successfully identifying the types of software used in the learning units of this program. The main results indicated that students only use software in 4 out of 52 learning units established by the curricular map. However, they express interest in learning and using specialized software in the different learning units, with SolidWorks being one of the most requested, as they consider it the most important software for a mechanical engineer due to its relevance in design and simulation.
